John Wick Fans Get One More Ballerina Trailer Before Release

We are less than a month away from the release of From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, the Ana de Armas–starring spinoff that’s set to offer audiences a familiar yet new flavor of Wick action in theaters. Last month, Lionsgate released the second trailer ahead of the spinoff’s June 6, 2025, release, and now the studio has unveiled its final trailer for Ballerina, which does not disappoint.

Eve Macarro, Ana de Armas’ character in Ballerina, is not a new character in the John Wick franchise. The events of Ballerina take place during John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. The 2019 installment in the action franchise starred Keanu Reeves as John Wick, who was made an “excommunicado” by the High Table after killing crime lord Santino D’Antonio at the Continental Hotel. As Wick escaped his former allies and made his way across New York City with the multi-million-dollar bounty on his head, he found himself in the home of the Ruska Roma crime syndicate.

Anjelica Huston played the group’s powerful leader, the Director, in Parabellum, and in the brief scene, Unity Phelan played one of the Director’s ballerina protégés as she danced on a stage. Little was revealed about her backstory, but it was teased that the ballerinas who trained with the Director were not just dancers but assassins as well. Ballerina will now focus on Phelan’s character, Eve, and Ana de Armas will play the ballerina-assassin on the big screen.

As such, there are several returning actors to keep an eye out for in the film. As mentioned earlier, Anjelica Huston will reprise her role from the original movie, and Ian McShane will return as Winston, manager of the Continental Hotel. We will also be able to see a posthumous performance by Lance Reddick as The Continental’s concierge, Charon, a role he played in every installment of the franchise until his tragic passing in March 2023.

Sharon Duncan-Brewster will join de Armas as Nogi, Eve’s new mentor, Gabriel Byrne will be the film’s main villain, the Chancellor, while Norman Reedus and Catalina Sandino Moreno will make an appearance, as will David Castañeda. As for the roles they will play, that is still left to speculation, although some casting news may hint at the potential arcs for both Duncan-Brewster and Castañeda.

Origin’s Story with Familiar Violence

When the first trailer for Ballerina dropped in September 2024, its sole focus was on Eve’s background, before she decided to avenge her father’s murder. A young Eve is seen in her first scene in the trailer from the beginning of the film after being orphaned at a young age, joining the Ruska Roma with one goal in mind.

As the Russo Roma’s young proteges were known for being ballerina-assassins, the audience can guess that Eve will follow in their footsteps and work as an assassin before being able to use that training to kill her father’s murderers. The hint of a personal, emotion-driven story for the film in the first trailer was also given away by a cameo from John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves.

The second trailer from March 2025 was, however, what fans were hoping for. In contrast to the softer tone of the first trailer, it featured a meeting of the two assassins on a snowy rooftop, leaving many fans intrigued as to whether the main antagonist of John Wick 4: Dimension would be back for Ballerina. Although it didn’t reveal much, if at all, the trailer was enough to signal to fans that the titular ballerina would be sharing the screen with John Wick for most of the film, and that the two might find a silent understanding between them.

By contrast, the final trailer released earlier this month is harsher in tone than its predecessors. It immediately goes for Wick and his gaze on Eve, who is visible from the background as her life flashes before her eyes. A brief shot of John and Ana in close-up briefly shows Ana’s perseverance as well as hints at her physical appearance.

As the trailer shows off the star’s training montage from the last installment of the franchise in a dark room, one line from the film itself gets dropped with a somewhat terrifying resolution: “This isn’t done until they’re dead.” After this, the trailer is quickly paced and shows action, both past and present, going from new clips from the film to previous ones, and then quickly back to new ones in an adrenaline-pumping way. Fast and furious, there are montages of ballerina-assassins, some of which Ana is visibly a part of, pulling off impossible close-quarter combat and gunfights in choreographed fashion.

But there’s a difference in this final trailer as it focuses on Ana de Armas’ character and shows not only her skill but also her willingness to commit. With John Wick being a more present character in this story, however, Ana still has enough presence on-screen to show off a new expansion to the franchise with the focus on her, even if the choreography, special effects, and visual tones of the film remain largely the same as previous installments in the saga.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina will make its way to theaters on June 6, 2025, and only has its final month to keep current and past fans of the franchise curious in the stylized action of the film. If the recent trailers are to be taken into consideration, however, then it is safe to say that Ballerina is on the right track.
